M375's RESEARCH

M375 has compiled data from nearly 100 years of recorded documents. Utilizing The American Produce Records, The Blood-Horse Stallion Register, and various other sources, M375 has researched the families of racehorses going back to 1928 to determine the exact characteristics, in race records and pedigrees, that make up successful sires, dams, and broodmare sires.

SIRE SELECTION

The art of selecting which male racehorses will become today's NEARCO or HYPERION understands the fine balance of race record and pedigree. M375 Thoroughbreds has determined the racing requirements and pedigree type to find the next NORTHERN DANCER or BOLD RULER. The ability to win races at certain distances and in stakes company is of the utmost importance for any stallion prospect. Even a sire like BOLD REASONING had these elements to his pedigree and track record.

DAM SELECTION

M375 has developed a formula to discern which mares have the greatest probability of producing stakes winners. By weighing the mare's race record, her family's production record, and even her own sire's race and produce records, M375 can select which mares from which particular families will be able to produce these stakes winners and champions of tomorrow. Some race mares need to become stakes winners to receive M375's approval, while others never need to step foot on the racetrack.

When a mare named MY CHARMER retired from racing, her race record was just average and her family had not produced many good runners for a few generations, but M375's selection process knew she had all the attributes to be a great producer. In fact, she produced four stakes winners, including Triple Crown winner SEATTLE SLEW.

With its formula in place, M375 has been able to select broodmares that produce stakes winners at a rate higher than the industry average.

YEARLING SALES

Once M375 knew how to select the proper sires and dams, then it was time to study the public market place. M375 has evaluated four annual yearling sales from 1975 to present. The four sales are: Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Yearling Sale, Keeneland July Selected Yearling Sale, Saratoga Summer Yearling Sale, and Keeneland September Yearling Sale.  After examining each entry in these sales to determine which yearlings possessed the characteristics required for an M375 approval, M375's program found sales yearlings such as SEATTLE SLEW, ALLEGED, SPECTACULAR BID, GENUINE RISK, NUREYEV, CONQUISTADOR CIELO, DEVIL'S BAG, ZILZAL, BLACK TIE AFFAIR (IRE), A.P. INDY, ARAZI, and VINDICATION, which had these 100+ common elements in their pedigrees.

M375's computer program gives a horse a "yes" or "no" based on its pedigree. There are no "maybes." In addition, the program calculates a threshold level for purchase price of these yearlings. The results of this study speak for themselves. As an example, with 191,683 horses catalogued in the above mentioned sales from 1975-2018, only 1,060 (0.55%) were approved by this highly selective program. Of the 1,060 approved horses, 217 (20%) turned out to be STAKES WINNERS. This impressive ratio is well above the industry average.
